CodeRED Emergency Notification System

The Village of Lynbrook has instituted a new rapid emergency notification service called CodeRED. This system is being established and managed through the Emergency Management Office to be utilized as a proactive tool to keep our residents informed. It will also be used in emergency situations where it is important to get the most accurate information out to the public for decisive actions as they relate to conditions we may be experiencing. There are many features which CodeRED employs which benefit us greatly. With a one-of-a-kind Internet mapping capability for geographic targeting of calls, coupled with a high speed telephone calling system capable of delivering customized recorded emergency messages directly to homes and businesses, live individuals and answering machines; we can notify the entire town in minutes.

This service can be used in case of fires, chemical spills, evacuations, lock downs, downed power lines, missing persons, natural disasters, abductions, water system problems, bomb threats, or other emergencies. Calls can be geographically targeted for localized messaging. We will also send follow up messages to residents, say for example, when a missing person is found.

By registering, you’ll be added to the emergency call list. There is also an option to enroll in non-emergency, public information notifications you can enroll in.

Village of Lynbrook residents are welcome and encouraged to enter their contact information for their home or business phones so they may be contacted by the system in the event of an emergency. It is important for village residents and businesses customers to register, especially if they use unlisted numbers, cell phones, or VOIP. Those who do not register their address and phone number may not be notified with CodeRED in the case of an emergency. Registration is confidential, free, and easy.
