Lynbrook
Celebrates Hanukkah with Menorah Lighting
All eyes were
focused on the Menorah's single bulb and
nine candles branches, and with a flick of a
switch the Village of Lynbrook commemorated
of the first day of Hanukkah with the
lighting of the first candle. The single
bulb was one of eight that was lit during
the Jewish holiday, which ended December
19th. The Jewish holiday commemorates the
rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem
at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the
2nd century. The story states that there was
only enough oil for one night and yet the
oil lasted for eight nights.
