Lynbrook's Paddy Joe Dolan is a Friend

In recognition of his work and efforts in
support of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH)
Division 14, Lynbrook resident Paddy Joe
Dolan has been named its recipient of the
2009 Friend of the Year Award.
Mr. Dolan received the award in recognition
of his support of Hibernian ideals and
unwavering commitment to a united Ireland.
He was presented the award at a picnic held
at Greis Park.
"We commend Mr. Dolan for his support of the
Hibernians and know that he will continue to
do good works in support of its mission and
vision," said Lynbrook Mayor Brian Curran,
pictured with Mr. Dolan and Timothy Myles,
president of the AOH Div. 14. Mayor Curran
presented a Village Citation to Mr. Dolan.
Active across the United States, The Ancient
Order of Hibernians seeks to aid the newly
arrived Irish, both socially, politically.
The many Divisions and club facilities
located throughout the U.S. traditionally
have been among the first to welcome new
Irish Americans. Here, the Irish culture --
art, dance, music, and sports are fostered
and preserved. The newcomers can meet some
of "their own" and are introduced to the
social atmosphere of the Irish-American
community. the AOH has been at the political
forefront for issues concerning the Irish,
such as; Immigration Reform; economic
Incentives both here and in Ireland; the
human rights issues addressed in the
MacBride Legislation; Right-To-Life; and a
peaceful and just solution to the issues
that divide Ireland.
