Hall of Famer to Revere,
Kevin Murphy Honored by Village
Lynbrook,
NY --
Members of the 2009 Lynbrook Titans
wrestling squad joined with Mayor Brian
Curran, residents of Lynbrook and the
Board of Trustees to celebrate the
induction of Lynbrook High School
graduate Kevin Murphy to the USA
National Wrestling Hall of Fame &
Museum. Murphy was an
outstanding high school wrestler at
Lynbrook
High School,
who went on to the University of
Massachusetts
where he wrestled there four
years and emerged as a two-time New
EnglandUniversity
Champion. He has
continued to participate in wrestling as
a
coach of the Lynbrook Titans wrestling program,
distinguishing himself as a
positive role model. He has motivated
hundreds of young wrestlers
participating in the
Lynbrook youth program and has volunteered and
donated countless hours working with the
young wrestlers from Lynbrook
for the past 27 years. Even with his
long work hours as the
Managing Director of Citigroup, Murphy
still makes the time to run the Lynbrook
Kid Wrestling program. His
personal motivation in wrestling is
obvious and contagious to the
youngsters.
The Lynbrook Titans Wrestling completed
its 31st season with nearly 150 youth
wrestling enthusiasts spending Saturday
mornings in Lynbrook Kindergarten Center
gymnasium learning the skills and
discipline of one of the World's first
sports. The focus of Titans Wrestling is
not on winning and losing, but on
building character through self
confidence, self discipline,
determination, and perseverance. With 4
coaches involved for nearly 20 plus
years each, Titans Wrestling has
established a rich tradition of
sportsmanship and excellence. If you
