A. You may visit the Building Department during normal business hours. You may call the building department to answer any questions you may have, & you may also visit the Building Dept.'s web pages. There are some downloadable documents available.

 

Q. How do I get a Handicapped Parking Permit Application?

Q. How do I register to vote for village elections?

A. If you are not registered to vote the General Elections and wish to register you may do so by downloading the voter registration form (Download English Form - Download Spanish Form) and following the instructions on the form. If you are registered to vote in the General Elections (November elections) and your address is listed as being in Lynbrook then you are already registered for village elections.

 

Q. Where can I obtain a copy of a resolution, Local Law, minutes or other official documents adopted by the Village Board?

 A. These documents may be obtained from the Office of the Village Clerk, located at 1 Columbus drive, Lynbrook, New York 11563. A. These documents may be obtained from the Town of Hempstead web site or by calling their main telephone number – (516) 489-5000.

 

Q. How can I get information concerning property ownership or a listing of surrounding property owners? 

A. This information can be obtained from the Nassau county Clerk’s web site or by calling their telephone number: (516) 571-2663. 

 

Q. Where can I obtain a copy of a birth certificate or a death certificate? 

A. This information can be obtained from the Village Registrar, at 1 Columbus Drive, Lynbrook, NY 11563 (only if you were born in Lynbrook or died in Lynbrook).  If in the Town of Hempstead, you would call the Town Hall, at (516) 489-5000. 

 

Q. Where do I file complaints about property maintenance?  

A. The complaint may be filed with the Building Department; telephone is (516) 599-8300, ex. 236.  

 

Q. Which records are “public records”? 

A. All records in the office of the Village clerk are public with the exception of: (a) home addresses/phone numbers of current or retired police officers, fire fighters, and code enforcement officers; (b) transcript of attorney-client sessions; (c) election complaints prior to file order from State Election Commission; and (d) any other records deemed exempt under New York State Statute.

A. The parking ticket may be paid at the Village of Lynbrook parking Division, telephone number is (516) 599-8300, ext. 210. 

 

Q. Where can I obtain a business license so I can open a business? 

A. If the business is to be located within the County limits of Nassau County, contact the Business Tax Division of the County of Nassau Clerks office, at (516) 571-3303. 

 

Q. Where do I find information regarding Building Permits and Zoning? 

A. Information regarding zoning regulations, and on on-line application form may be obtained at the Lynbrook village web-site or by call the building department at (516)599-8300 ext. 236. 

 

Q. What is the charge for reproducing copies of “public records”? 

A. Photocopies cost 25 cents per single-sided page.  These costs are governed and established by New York State.
