The Mission of the Village of Lynbrook Building Department is to oversee plan review and permit issuance to assure that proposed construction work meets safety requirement of the village and other required codes; to enforce the current code requirements for existing structures, & that the process be performed in a timely manner with professional and courteous service to our clients.
Village issued permits are required for:
  1. All alterations or extensions on existing buildings (decks, dormers, side or rear extensions, skylights, etc) and for any new construction (new dwellings, garages, office buildings, commercial structures, etc.)
  2. Signs - Permanent and Temporary or Change of Copy. See our Forms & Documents page for downloadable village code regarding signs.
  3. Awnings  & Canopies
  4. Fences (replacement or new)
  5. Swimming Pools (in-ground or above ground) with fence to code. See our Forms & Documents page for village code regarding swimming pools.
  6. Demolition of a structure
  7. Dumpsters (No permit is required if dumpster is placed in driveway)
  8. Sewers - Connect or Disconnect
  9. Sidewalks & Curbs (No Fee Permit). See our Forms & Documents page for village code regarding sidewalks & curbs.
  10. Plumbing
  11. Mechanical
  12. Street Openings
  13. Installation or removal of tanks (outside or inside)
  14. Trailer (Temporary)

Licensing Requirements - Electricians & Plumbers

 

ALL ELECTRICIANS & PLUMBERS WHO PERFORM WORK IN THE INC. VILLAGE OF LYNBROOK MUST BE LICENSED & REGISTERED WITH THE INC. VILLAGE OF LYNBROOK. ALL CONTRACTORS MUST HAVE THE PROPER INSURANCE PAPERS ON FILE WITH THE BUILDING DEPT.
